Process for Requesting Nights Away from Campus

Updated on September 17th, 2024

Overnight Release Policy

For the safety and well-being of our community, students under 18 or those who are 18 but residing in a residence hall designated for minors are expected to spend their nights on campus. We do, however, acknowledge that significant life events occasionally arise necessitating a night away, such as family weddings, funerals, or other major events.

To request an exception, a parent or legal guardian must reach out to summercampuslife@berklee.edu to obtain the Overnight Release Request Form. Submission of this form initiates a review but does not automatically grant permission. Only a parent or legal guardian may initiate this request on behalf of the student, and requests will be verified prior to approval. Misuse of this form by students is grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including early dismissal from the program without refund or program credit.

To ensure adequate time for review, all requests must be submitted at least seven days in advance. Late requests, made fewer than seven days before the desired date, will be automatically denied. Students with approved requests are expected to adhere to the standard curfew check at 10:30 PM upon their return.
