Bluegrass Ensemble
Room A07, 130 Massachusetts Avenue
Bluegrass is a genre of American Roots Music that can be considered a cross between some Country and Folk styles. Traditional bluegrass is played on acoustic stringed instruments exclusively and without percussion, although in recent years, a wider variety of instruments have been included, especially in closely-related styles (music that's considered "Beyond Bluegrass"). Bluegrass can be similar to jazz because most instrumentalists take a turn playing the melody and/or improvising around it, while the other musicians play rhythm. Bluegrass is one of the primary styles of music represented within the American Roots Music Program at Berklee.
